“The Gulbenkian Garden is invaluable for the city of Lisbon. (…) Why highlight the birds in a place like the Gulbenkian Garden? First of all, because of the peculiar attraction that man  always felt for these animals, which is moreover evident in the cultural collections of numerous civilizations. But also because they are a group of vertebrates especially suitable for use in environmental awareness initiatives, and to convey some concepts in the fields of biology, ecology, and spatial planning. More: the use of city gardens to exhibit themes related to the natural environment not only adds value to its enjoyment, but offers a valuable opportunity to inform, train and teach. ”
