“The habitats that are perhaps most intensively modified by man are riverine habitats. I became aware of this situation when during numerous visits to Portuguese riparian environments in search of a Cetti’s warbler or a kingfisher. (…) One of the problems that most caught my attention was the great difficulty that institutions and companies involved with the recovery of riparian ecosystems had in obtaining suitable plants for this purpose. (…) The publication of this riparian species propagation guide is intended as a tool to help resolve the aforementioned situation and stimulate the production of plant materials from local sources.”
